What we do in Vic

Same team and same prices as in Granollers. Remote support, websites, hosting and marketing don't depend on distance; when we need to be there in person, travel is quoted separately.

The fact missing from Vic's profile

Three cameras on the roundabouts, nine estates behind them

In January 2023, Vic Town Council and the estates' business associations set up three number-plate recognition checkpoints at the entrances to the town's industrial areas. It's a public, concrete fact, and it tells you something useful: the council monitors which vehicles enter the area, but not what happens inside each plot.

What the council already watches

As El 9 Nou reported in January 2023, the investment was €38,000: the council covered 80% and the businesses the rest. The three checkpoints are at the roundabout giving access to the Malloles estate on the Roda road, at the Girbau one and on the municipal boundary with Gurb, at the EsclatOil petrol station roundabout. Each combines an automatic number-plate recognition camera, a general-view camera recording 24 hours a day, two infrared lights and an outdoor communications module, and the footage is managed by the Guàrdia Urbana. Behind those roundabouts lie the nine estates listed by the council: Mas de Bigas, Sot dels Pradals, Mas Beuló, Mas d'en Prat, the Parc d'Activitats Econòmiques d'Osona Sud and Nord, el Bruguer, Malloles and les Casasses, organised into three associations (AINEV, APVic and PAE). The management pilot scheme for Malloles, les Casasses and el Bruguer alone brings together 140 businesses across 42 hectares.

What's inside the fence

A camera on the roundabout tells you which number plate entered the area; it can't see the loading bay, the warehouse or the perimeter of a unit, and its footage doesn't belong to the business. That's still down to each business, and Vic has a lot of big business: according to Idescat, industry accounts for 5,345 social security registrations under the general scheme (June 2026), and 30% of all registrations in the town are with employers of 250 or more staff. For an industrial unit or estate office we install outdoor cameras with night vision and their own recorder, meeting the legal requirements when they record staff (we explain it here), the internal network between unit and office and, if the business can't afford to go offline, a backup line. The Catalan government's public fibre network was already running in Vic in 2019, but it's a backbone network: the last stretch to each business is completed by the providers, and we don't publish which provider reaches each street because there's no reliable public source that tells you.

On the ground

What working in Vic involves

Working in Vic from Granollers takes planning. It's about 45 minutes on the C-17 each way, so before sending anyone we try to solve everything we can remotely: diagnosis, configuration, backups, email. When a visit is needed, we prepare it with photos, floor plans or a video call so we arrive with the right kit and get it done in a single trip.

On the industrial estates, the starting point is what's already there. The council cameras cover the roundabouts; what's usually missing is the perimeter of the plot, a stable connection between unit and office, and a recorder that doesn't rely on a single line. In a large unit, Wi-Fi is planned zone by zone, with measurements, not with the provider's router hanging up in the office.

In the centre, Vic is flats and shops: nearly three in ten main residences are rented, and the most common size is 61 to 90 m². There the answer is hardly ever building work; it's a well-placed router or one more access point, and in shops, a till, separate customer Wi-Fi and a camera. Out in the countryside, with farmhouses and farms far from the town, it's a different conversation: Starlink or a radio link, and cameras that work with nobody nearby.

Frequently asked questions

About Vic

How long does it take to get from Granollers to Vic, and what does the travel cost?+

About 45 minutes on the C-17: the route planner we use gives 41.7 km between the two town halls and just over 40 minutes with no traffic, and we round that up. Vic is outside the Vallès Oriental, so travel isn't included: it's quoted separately depending on the job, and it appears on the quote before you decide anything. A lot of what people ask for doesn't need the trip at all: remote support, websites, hosting and marketing work the same in Vic as in Granollers and don't depend on distance. An on-site visit makes sense for installing networks, cameras, Starlink or a point-to-point radio link, and then it pays to plan the job properly so it gets done in a single trip.

What cameras are already in place at the entrances to Vic's industrial estates?+

Since January 2023 there have been three checkpoints on the access roundabouts: the one at the entrance to the Malloles estate on the Roda road, the Girbau one, and the one on the municipal boundary with Gurb, next to the EsclatOil petrol station. They cost €38,000, paid by the Town Council (80%) and the estates' business associations (the rest), and each combines a number-plate recognition camera, a general-view camera recording 24 hours a day, two infrared lights and a communications module. The footage is managed by the Guàrdia Urbana (local police), not by the businesses. In other words, the council knows which vehicle enters the area, but the perimeter of each unit, the loading bay or the warehouse are still each business's own responsibility, and that's where we install outdoor cameras with night vision and their own recorder.

Do you cover all of Vic's industrial estates?+

Yes, all nine listed by the Town Council: Mas de Bigas, Sot dels Pradals, Mas Beuló, Mas d'en Prat, the Parc d'Activitats Econòmiques d'Osona Sud and Nord, el Bruguer, Malloles and les Casasses. They're organised into three associations, AINEV, APVic and PAE, which work with the council. It's a substantial business base: according to Idescat, 30% of Vic's social security registrations under the general scheme are with employers of 250 or more staff, and industry accounts for 5,345 of them. For an industrial unit or estate office we do internal networks, Wi-Fi for the unit and office, perimeter cameras, backups and remote support; the installation visit is quoted with travel on top.

What about the farmhouses and scattered rural properties around the town?+

Vic is a compact town: according to the 2025 population gazetteer, 49,813 of its 50,405 inhabitants live in the town itself. But the municipality also has 592 residents in scattered rural properties, plus Sentfores (a municipality in its own right until 1932), the Castell d'en Planes housing estate and the Serra-de-senferm hamlet. It's farming country too: the 2020 census records 56 livestock holdings and more than 32,000 pigs within the municipality. On a farmhouse or farm far from the town, where a conventional line is hard to get, that's where it makes sense to look at Starlink or a point-to-point radio link, plus outdoor cameras that work with nobody nearby. We don't say which provider reaches each house, because there's no reliable public source that tells you.

Do you work with home users in Vic, or only businesses?+

Both, although at this distance remote support is usually the most practical option for a home user. Vic is a town of flats: according to the 2021 census, of its 16,979 main residences the most common size band is 61 to 90 m² (7,701), and 29.1% are rented, well above the 23.2% for Catalonia. In a flat like that, many Wi-Fi problems are fixed by placing and setting up the router properly, and others, such as a slow PC, a virus or a backup, can be sorted remotely. As for shops, Vic holds its market on Tuesdays and Saturdays in the Plaça Major and the Rambla del Carme and Rambla del Passeig: for a shop in the centre we do card terminals and tills, customer Wi-Fi, cameras and websites. Whether you're a home user or run a business, when we need to come out, travel is quoted separately.
